This was not just a mark of high social status but of breeding and good education as well. To this very day, these age old reasons may still be good enough motivations to start learning plus there’s always the occasional kids art projects to do.
Of course, those who want to become accomplished artists may have less traditional reasons for wanting to start painting. Moreover, these same individuals may also seek to learn painting because the art form gives them the chance to relax and get away from the normal worries of the world. Painting is therapeutic.
There aren’t a lot of different ways to learn to paint. The oldest learning method is to take after a master. This however, would naturally require a good grasp for details. When you know that you can learn how to paint without a teacher, you can gradually begin painting your own works.
Copying is not a technique that anyone can employ. If this is true for you, you can take other paths to self instruction. A great way to get over learning difficulties is to buy instructional videos, special manuals and related e-books. The most recommended of these tools help people learn through the mixed use of demonstration, exposition and illustration. It’s much the same as participating in a real class.
If you don’t have any prior experience or knowledge with colors and brushes, it makes a lot of sense to look for help. Regardless of whether you get a real teacher or learn painting with a book, it is important that you discover certain basic ideas first. Among the important points that great resources will teach you is choosing exact water or oil colors, understating color relationships, adding light and shadow, painting with tools other than brushes and proper brush handling.
Before you begin to pick a brush or an instructional method, you need to assess yourself. It’s important to determine first if you are a naturally motivated individual or if you can’t live without step by step teaching. When you’ve obtained the answer for this, you are in the best position to choose which teaching method to settle for.
It’s not impossible to learn how to paint well and do your own art projects even if you don’t think you have natural talent. With the right instructions, you can become an expert painter. You just need to find out which learning methods are ideal for you.
